Keep me developing!
Any support to keep me doing the work is greatly appreciated, and you can be part of my developing process by purchasing any of my photographs that may appeal to your raffinate taste or by simply buying me a coffee.
Welcome to my world, where every click of the shutter and stroke of the darkroom tools is a labour of love!
Iām a passionate film photographer and darkroom and alternative techniques printer living in Milton Keynes, Buckinghamshire.
I have always been fascinated by the concept of imaging, irrespective of medium, technique, or purpose. Through my teen years and then later, in adulthood, I experimented with various techniques and applications such as sketching, painting, and drawing. Since discovering photography, almost two decades ago, I have entirely and hopelessly fallen in love with it, continually looking to capture the fabric of life through the gaping lenses of my camera.
Why Film Photography?
In an age where digital technology dominates, analog photography remains an unyielding beacon of authenticity and artistry. There's an undeniable charm in the process - from carefully selecting the film to the anticipation of waiting for prints to develop. It's a dance with time, a tangible connection to the past, and a testament to the enduring allure of the analog.
Each photograph I capture holds a unique story, a moment, and an emotion. My goal is not merely to take pictures but to evoke feelings, spark memories, and tell stories that transcend time. Every shot is a canvas, and I strive to craft a masterpiece with every click.
The Darkroom: Where Magic Unfolds
But the story doesn't end when the shutter closes. It's in the darkroom that the real magic happens. Hand-processing and printing each photograph is where my artistry shines. It's here that I meticulously fine-tune every detail, ensuring that every print is a work of art that captures the essence of the moment.
In addition to traditional film photography and gelatin silver printing, I've delved deep into the world of alternative printing techniques, especially cyanotypes and kallitypes. These historical processes allow me to push the boundaries of creativity and produce unique, striking images. Cyanotypes, with their mesmerizing blue tones, and kallitypes, known for their rich, warm tones, offer a different dimension to my artistry. They allow me to create images that evoke a sense of nostalgia and timelessness.
Photography is not just about capturing images; it's about connecting with people, places, and emotions. I invite you to explore my blog and portfolio, where I share my journey, insights, and the captivating stories behind my photographs and alternative prints. Whether you're a fellow photography enthusiast or simply someone who appreciates the art, I'm always eager to connect, share, and learn from each other.
